Warminster updating CCTV systems

Warminster Council is going flat out to improve their outdated CCTV surveillance system.

The Council’s Finance and Assets Committee has decided to update the current security cameras with a far more advanced and sophisticated technology – including flat screen LED monitors, which will replace the old television monitors in the control room. In addition, all the CCTV cameras in the Mark Mercer Dome will be replaced.

The changes have been brought about because of a dramatic rise in the cost of maintenance for the old system, which shot up from £7,500 a year to a whopping £24,400. The Council was told that the reason for the increase was the fact that the equipment had become ‘obsolete’, and further enquiries revealed that a new system would reduce the cost to a mere £4,500, as well as a saving in electricity.

It was therefore an easy decision for the Council to make and now there will be the latest in CCTV surveillance systems helping to keep the town safe while at the same time providing security and protection for the community.
