Luton Airport CCTV fails “furious” passenger after theft
CCTV at London Luton Airport has been criticised after a passenger had a bag stolen in the airport on Thursday.
The airport traveller Donal Ridout from South Wales was flying out to Northern Ireland when his suitcase was taken from his side. The problem arose when airport security staff reviewed CCTV images and could only make out a vague outline of the thief. Obviously by the time the alarm was raised, the thief was gone.
Mr Ridout said: “Heads should roll. This is about people’s safety. What if those people had been terrorists? They wouldn’t have a clue who they were.”
The bag contained personal possessions, documents and 350 in Euros.
Airport security were obviously keen to make sure that it is clear there is no breach in security, outlining the fact that it is impossible to have every corner covered (it’s not impossible – just expensive).
