Cumbria plans 50 camera CCTV network

In an effort to save both funds and resources while increasing crime busting – Cumbria is planning on controlling all county CCTV cameras from one network.

The system’s details are sketchy at present, but one Cumbria crime commissioner commented: “The executive board in December is expected to make a decision on CCTV for a county-wide approach.”

In March of this year there was an announcement, like many local Councils, stating that due to budget cuts that CCTV cameras in Barrow, Dalton and Ulverston would be cut due to budget restrictions. However, the network continues to operate.

So the new plan is for 54 cameras, presumably many of these already in operation which would be controlled centrally.
