Baby CCTV keeping an eye on twins Harley and Hayden

Most people think of CCTV in terms of protecting property or improving public safety, but for one couple it is very much a matter of life and death.

Seventeen-months-old Ollie Johnson has Dravet Syndrome, a rare condition which means that he can suffer a seizure at any time, putting him at risk of dying in his sleep.

So his parents, Sarah and Peter, have installed two CCTV cameras on his cot, linked to screens in their bedroom and living room, so they can constantly keep a watchful eye on him.

Sarah, who also has four-month-old twins Harley and Hayden to look after, says the family has been given much-needed ‘peace of mind’ with the introduction of the CCTV system. She said that they used to panic when Ollie had a seizure and that they never wanted to go to sleep in case he had one in his sleep. Ollie also has problems sleeping so the cameras allow them to check on him without walking in and disturbing him.

Ollie had his first seizure at the age of four months and Sarah and Stephen have hardly slept since he was diagnosed in April this year.
